A Decade of Lynchings

Today we have an image found in the Lane County Journal (Dighton, Kansas) dated July 9, 1903:

I tried to find a lynching that I could connect with recent events and I just couldn't do it. First the two shootings of black men by police (those would be easier to find lynchings to connect because honestly the police shootings of our men of color is a modern day form of lynching), but followed by the ambush of the Dallas police at the end of a peaceful protest is too much. I could have covered lynchings in which the peace officers were wounded or killed, but it just didn't seem sufficient. I could have covered riots, but this was a peaceful demonstration and a riot did not match the situation. I feel a need to address this situation, but honestly I am speechless.

Thank you for joining me, and as always, I hope I leave you with something to ponder.
