December 13, 1921: Curley Hackney

Today we learn about a lynching in Texas through the pages of the Concordia Blade-Empire (Concordia, Kansas) dated December 14, 1921:

LYNCH ANOTHER TEXAS WHITE

Curley Hackney is Third Man to be Lynched in State in Week

DALLAS, Tex., Dec. 14.—Curley Hackney, lynched at Waco last night, is the second white man lynched by a mob in Texas in recent years, and the third man lynched in the state this week.

A negro was lynched Sunday night at Fort Worth and another hung from a tree near Gradewater Monday. Tom Vickery, white, was lynched at Fort Worth a year ago this month.l

Thank you for joining me and as always, I hope I leave you with something to ponder.
