March, 1894: Sylvester Rhodes

Today we learn of another Georgia lynching found in The Atlanta Constitution (Atlanta, Georgia) dated March 6, 1894:

THE MOB GOT HIM.

Sylvester Rhodes, Rosier's Murderer, Is lynched in Tattnall County.

Collins, Ga., March 5.—(Special.)—Sylvester Rhodes, the negro who shot to death a young white man, Robert rosier, at Cobbtown, in Tattnall county, on February 24th, was at 7:40 p. m. brought to this town. The negro was instantly surrounded by an enraged body of citizens, and it is currently reported that at 8 p. m. the negro was shot to death.
